The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is inviting residents to help shape the future of the Chatham-Kent Museum as it prepares to relocate to its new home within the Chatham-Kent Community Hub in downtown Chatham.
The Museum Exhibition and Interpretive Plan survey gives residents a chance to weigh in on the Chatham-Kent stories, people, places and moments the museum should preserve and share, along with the types of experiences it will offer visitors. The engagement is meant to help shape future exhibitions, interpretive themes and visitor experiences.
The survey, available at www.letstalkchatham-kent.ca/museum/surveys/feedback, takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete and will be open from August 5 to August 17, 2026.
Residents are encouraged to share the stories, places, people and history they believe should be highlighted, as well as the kinds of exhibits and experiences they would like to see in the new museum.
“The new Community Hub is an investment in preserving our past while creating new opportunities to share it with future generations,” said Mayor Darrin Canniff. “We encourage residents to take a few minutes to complete the survey and help shape a museum that reflects the stories, experiences, and heritage that matter most to our community.”
The new museum will be part of the Community Hub at 130 King Street West, bringing together the Chatham Civic Centre, the Chatham branch of the Chatham-Kent Public Library and the Chatham-Kent Museum under one modern, accessible and energy-efficient facility. The move is expected to create new opportunities for interactive exhibits and expanded programming while preserving the stories, people and history that make Chatham-Kent unique.
