Council to consider CCTV camera locations

Chatham-Kent council will discuss the potential placement of additional CCTV cameras at its August 10 meeting, following a notice of motion brought forward by South Kent Councillor Anthony Ceccacci on July 27.

The motion directs administration to investigate areas of concern raised by council and residents and report back on potential locations where CCTV cameras could provide a significant public benefit, including but not limited to Erieau and Mitchell’s Bay and other areas that experience a large influx of people and ongoing vandalism.

Administration and the Chatham-Kent Police Service are asked to present available options, estimated costs, funding opportunities, and any privacy or operational considerations for council’s review and discussion.
