This year’s WAMBO 50/50 draw has a winner, and organizers say the annual festival fundraiser was a success thanks to volunteers, sponsors and the community.
Doug Nielsen took home $15,165 as this year’s winner.
Sue Baert of The Wallaceburg and District Council for the Arts thanked volunteers who helped run the ticket sales, including Judy Bachus, Jane McGee, Lynne Vanderveeken, Brenda Mann, Beth Ortibus and her daughter, Nancy Mahoney, Kate Mcklaggen and Tommy McGee.
She also thanked Bill Wolsing and the WAMBO committee for their help with setup, and singled out “the last 50 people that helped us crest $30,000.”
Two bands, Baby Beluga and CD DC, provided entertainment during the event, including for children and in the beer tent, Baert said.
She also thanked Glasstown Brewery, The Black Goose and the Branch 18 Legion for allowing volunteers to walk through and sell tickets over the weekend.
