It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lorne Thorner at the age of 90.
It was his request that there be no service and that his remains be cremated.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Lorne was a quiet and kind man who lived a life defined by family, friends and the simple things he loved.
For many years, he was a family doctor in Port Lambton, Ontario, dedicating his career to care for others and making meaningful differences in the lives of the many patients and families he served.
At the heart of his life was his beloved wife, Nancy.
Together they shared 67 years of marriage, building a life filled with love, family and countless memories.
Their life together was a testament to a deep and enduring partnership, and Nancy was by his side through all their joys and challenges.
He enjoyed playing golf and watching the Toronto Blue Jays, Detroit Lions and any sport involving his grandchildren.
Listening to soft rock music filled his quiet times.
Above all, he cherished his family and the time spent with those he loved.
Lorne will be deeply missed by Nancy, his children Tracy Holgate and Todd Thorner, his grandchildren Mitchell (Scarlett), Connor (Mariah) and Kate (Ethan), and his great-grandchildren Liam, Reese and Noah.
Devoted brother to Donald (deceased) and Ruth Thorner.
Brother in-law to Lois and Charlie Clarke and Glen and Colleen Simpson and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his years of caring for others, his love of the simple pleasures in life, and most of all, the 67 beautiful years shared with Nancy.
Lorne will be forever loved, deeply missed and always remembered.
