Chatham youth charged after impaired driving stop on Bloomfield Road

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 17-year-old Chatham youth is facing an impaired driving charge following an early-morning police stop.

Chatham-Kent Police Service received a report of a possible impaired driver on Bloomfield Road at approximately 1:54 a.m. on Aug. 14. Officers located the vehicle in a nearby parking lot.

Police say the driver provided a sample of his breath into an Approved Screening Device, which registered a fail. He was arrested and taken to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters for further testing.

As a result, the youth is charged with operation while impaired, blood alcohol concentration of 80-plus.

He was released on a Form 10 with a court date of Oct. 7, 2026.
