Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 42-year-old Chatham man is facing a string of charges after Chatham-Kent police say he threatened and assaulted a woman over a period of months.
Police were called to a report of threats between the man and a 29-year-old woman, both of Chatham, on Aug. 20 at approximately 10:45 a.m.
During the investigation, officers learned of several previous incidents that occurred between August and December of 2024, which are alleged to have involved physical assaults, threats and forcible confinement. Police say the accused also uttered threats to kill the victim.
The man was arrested and charged with three counts of assault, one count of assault causing bodily harm by choking, one count of forcible confinement and two counts of uttering threats to cause death.
He was taken to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters, where he remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
