The Wallaceburg Minor Hockey Association is offering free equipment starter kits to help young players get their first taste of the game.
The association says every kid deserves the chance to experience hockey, and it is proud to help make that first step onto the ice a little easier.
Players who are brand new to hockey can receive a free starter kit to get their season underway, with support from Canadian Tire, which works with the association to ensure every young Laker has equipment to begin their first season.
The program is made possible through a generous donation from the Heuvelman family, given in honour of the late Gerard Heuvelman, whose generosity helps get every Laker off to a great start, the association says.
The kit does not include skates, a helmet, jock or jill, neck guard or stick.
The offer is available to all U5, U6 and U7 players, born in 2020 or later, who are in need of a starter kit for the 2026-2027 season. Families are asked to complete a registration form, after which the association will be in touch to arrange pickup.
Players must be brand new to hockey and playing in the U5 to U7 divisions to be eligible, and those with outstanding registration balances will receive their kit once payment has been received.
The Wallaceburg Minor Hockey Association thanked families for being part of the organization and said it hopes to continue offering a strong hockey experience in seasons to come.
