The Lambton County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police has recovered the body of a swimmer who went missing in the Ausable River in Grand Bend, as officers continue searching for a second missing swimmer in Lake Huron at Pinery Provincial Park.
Police say that on Friday, Aug. 28, 2026, just before 3 p.m., officers received a report of a missing 66-year-old individual from London who was last seen at a dock attached to an address on Canal Street in Grand Bend.
On Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026, at approximately 1:45 p.m., the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit, along with the Lambton Marine Unit, located the body of the missing swimmer.
Search efforts are meanwhile ongoing to locate a second missing swimmer in Lake Huron at Pinery Provincial Park in Lambton Shores.
Police say that on Saturday, just before 3 p.m., officers received a report of another missing swimmer who was last seen at the Pinery Provincial Park beach.
The Lambton OPP Marine Unit is searching for the swimmer, along with the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre.
