Chatham-Kent urges residents to sign up for CKAlert emergency notifications

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is reminding residents that they can sign up for real-time emergency notifications, including updates on when the current water restriction is lifted, by registering for CKAlert at www.ckalert.ca.

CKAlert is designed to provide immediate notification to Chatham-Kent residents in the event of local emergencies such as flooding, boil water advisories, emergency bridge closures and more.

Unlike the federal Alert Ready system, residents will not receive CKAlert notifications unless they sign up.

The system can be customized so residents receive notifications in whatever way works best for them. Alerts can be sent through text messages or email, while those without access to a cell phone or email address can receive prerecorded messages to a landline phone.

The municipality is encouraging residents to sign up so they can receive updates immediately when an emergency takes place, directly to the device of their choosing, in order to make informed decisions to stay safe.
