Heat warning
Environment Canada has renewed its yellow heat warning for Chatham-Kent, with a moderate impact level and high forecast confidence, saying the heat event will continue through Wednesday and could stretch into Thursday.
Maximum temperatures are expected to reach 30 to 32 degrees Celsius, with overnight lows between 20 and 23 degrees and humidex values near 40. The agency said confidence is low on whether the heat will persist into Thursday, particularly for Windsor and Essex County.
Environment Canada is again urging residents to check on older adults, people living alone and others at greater risk of heat illness, and to watch for early signs of heat exhaustion such as headache, nausea, dizziness, thirst, dark urine and fatigue. Anyone showing signs of heat stroke — including red, hot skin, confusion or a change in consciousness — should be treated as a medical emergency and 911 should be called immediately.
