It is with great sadness we announce Terry Miller passed away peacefully at home on Aug 26, 2026 at the age of 78. He will be forever loved and missed by his sons Craig Miller, T.J. (Dani) Miller and daughter Jody (Jeff) Emerson.
Cherished by his Grandchildren Brooke (Tyler) Emerson (Pet Buster), Zach (Mackenzie) Emerson and Liam (Ella) Emerson and his latest blessing Great Grandson Cash Emerson and (Pet Hank). All the Grandchildren called him PAPA “D’OH!”, a running family joke that carried through the years. Terry was born Oct 1948 to the late Ernie and Helen (Roebuck)Miller of Wallaceburg. Brother to the late sister Bonnie (Mark) Watson, sister Debbie (Herman) vant Voort and Jeff (Elaine) Miller. Like sister “cousin” Diane Kreiner. Beloved and deeply missed by many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Partner to the late Jane Howlett.
From a young age, Terry possessed a strong entrepreneurial spirit. He aspired to put this creativity on full display by starting up the Miller Farm Drainage company with his father, Ernie. Years later the pair opened MEC Powder Coatings, continuing to work side-by-side as father and son. After struggling with the challenges of self-employment, Terry made the transition to law enforcement where he proudly served as a Customs and Border Security Officer at the Sarnia Bluewater Bridge, Sombra and Walpole Island Ferries. He retired as a decorated officer in 2012 spending his golden years traveling, golfing, and sharing his love and wisdom with family and friends. Terry loved to travel; Florida being one of his favorite destinations. He adored the warm salty air, the tall palms swaying in the breeze, and the never-ending list of carefully manicured golf courses. When he wasn’t slicing golf balls into the ocean or having a laugh with new friends at the 19th hole, he was sharing indelible memories with his children. He made a point in his life to bring each of his kids to see Walt Disney World – ‘The most magical place on earth’. For Terry, family was always top priority. He sacrificed so much of himself for the benefit of others. He will always be remembered as a supportive, patient, and loving partner, father, and dear friend who refused to give up on the ones he cared for most. A grand optimist who consistently escaped many of life’s burdens unscarred. A grateful and humble man who wanted only for others to find success and happiness.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Ontario Health at Home, PSW’s, VON’s, Palliative nursing team and Dr. Ogundipe. Their compassion and immediate attention brought such comfort during this difficult time. Extra special gratitude to his best friend Brian Skinner. A lifelong friendship that Terry cherished so much. Thank you for your compassion and continued support.
Cremation has taken place and Terry’s ashes will be buried alongside his parents at Riverview Cemetery in Wallaceburg with a Celebration of Life ceremony to follow on his upcoming birthday.
