The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is advising residents that the Lord Selkirk Bridge in Wallaceburg will remain closed to vehicular traffic for public safety until Sept. 25, 2026.
The bridge remains open to pedestrians. Currently, both the Lord Selkirk Bridge and the Dundas Bridge are not operable for marine traffic requiring the bridge to open.
Municipal staff are working to develop and implement the repair to address the mechanical issue and safely reopen the bridge to vehicular traffic. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
Motorists are asked to follow the posted detour route using Base Line Road, Old Glass Road, Mason Street and Arnold Street and to allow additional travel time when moving through the area.
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent appreciates the patience and understanding of residents, businesses and motorists as work continues toward reopening the bridge as soon as possible.
