Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A London woman has been charged with impaired driving after Chatham-Kent Police Service officers stopped her vehicle for speeding on Base Line Road in Dover Township.
Officers were conducting traffic enforcement while travelling westbound on Base Line Road on Saturday, Sept. 12, at approximately 5:04 p.m., when they observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was initiated, and during the investigation officers formed grounds to believe the driver was impaired.
The driver was arrested for impaired operation and transported to Chatham-Kent Police headquarters for further testing. At the station, a Drug Recognition Expert conducted an evaluation and determined the driver’s ability to operate a conveyance was impaired by drug.
The 27-year-old London woman was charged with speeding, driving a motor vehicle without a licence, failing to have an insurance card, driving a motor vehicle without a permit, and operating a conveyance while impaired by drug.
She was released on an undertaking, with a future court date set for Oct. 19, 2026.
