Big Chief Drive‑In in Wallaceburg remains open during ongoing construction on Dufferin Avenue, where the business has operated for decades.
Located at 5001 Dufferin Ave., the drive‑in continues to run on its regular schedule, and staff say there are several detour options available for customers travelling from the downtown area.
The business has brought back its original steak‑cut fries, a longtime favourite among customers.
Owner Erin Bogaert says those who preferred the temporary replacement fries can still request them when ordering.
She has also introduced a weekly poutine feature, offering rotating themes such as dill pickle, Loaded Chief, Mac Daddy, Turkey Club and other creations developed in‑house.
Bogaert says she is looking forward to celebrating Big Chief’s 70th anniversary in January. She notes that the construction period has been challenging, but she is grateful for the community’s support throughout the first month of the project.
She says the next four months will be focused on maintaining service and ensuring customers can still access the restaurant.
Delivery is available for an additional $10 every Thursday through Sunday from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The service covers Wallaceburg, Walpole Island, Sombra and Port Lambton.
