Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A Chatham man has been arrested on an outstanding warrant stemming from a domestic assault investigation dating back to 2025.
On April 8, 2025, at approximately 8:15 p.m., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a domestic dispute at a residence in Chatham. The investigation revealed that during the dispute, the accused, a 39-year-old man from Chatham, assaulted a 38-year-old victim by placing his hands around her neck, pushing her to the ground and continuing to assault her. The accused also uttered threats toward the victim before leaving the residence.
Further investigation revealed the accused was in breach of court-ordered conditions that prohibited him from communicating with the victim or attending any location where she was known to be.
At approximately 10:44 p.m. that night, police located and arrested the accused. He was charged with failure to comply with a release order, two counts of assault, and uttering threats to cause death.
He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters, where he was released with conditions, including the provision of a DNA sample, and a scheduled court date of May 16, 2025. When the accused failed to attend court, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On Monday, the accused was located on Grand Avenue West in Chatham. He was arrested on the strength of the outstanding warrant and transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters, where he was later released with a scheduled future court date.
