Chatham man charged after domestic disturbance escalates to assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A Chatham man has been charged after a verbal argument with a woman escalated into a physical assault.

On Monday at approximately 1:11 p.m., members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a domestic-related disturbance at a residence in Chatham. The investigation revealed that a verbal argument between a 52-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman, both from Chatham, had escalated into a physical assault in which the accused grabbed and twisted the victim’s arm. The victim did not require additional medical attention.

As a result of the investigation, the accused was arrested and charged with assault.

He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters, where he was later released with conditions and a scheduled court date of Oct. 21, 2026.
