The St. Clair Township Fire Department responded to a mutual aid request early Wednesday involving an overnight fire at the Greenfield Global facility on Bloomfield Road in Chatham.
Firefighters arrived on scene around 3 a.m., supported by Tower 12 and Tower 22, and immediately began suppression efforts on a large ethanol storage tank fire. St. Clair deployed approximately 15 firefighters, the fire chief and deputy chiefs, as well as industrial emergency response teams from Borouge International (NOVA Chemicals) and Shell, which supplied additional personnel and specialized firefighting foam for the incident.
“Our RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft System) Task Force provided valuable aerial support as part of our response,” said Fire Chief Richard Boyes. “Using the drone launched from Command 1, crews monitored tank temperatures in real time, providing critical information to guide suppression efforts and ensure firefighter safety.”
Greenfield Global said no injuries were reported and all personnel on-site are safe.
