It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Douglas “Doug” McGee on October 1, 2026 at the age of 65. Doug will be deeply missed by his loving wife Deanna (nee Wilson) of 34 years. Devoted father of Michael (Lindsay) and Deidra McGee. Proud grandfather of Olivia Russell. Doug was born on October 23, 1960 with his twin brother Dave to parents, the late Robert and Frances McGee. Dear brother of Shirley (Bruce) Green, Gary (Alicia) McGee, Betty (Ed) deNijs, Mary Ann (Gerry) Schmidt and David (Kelly) McGee. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in-law, extended family and life long friends.
Doug farmed all of his life in Duthil with his brothers and parents. In recent years the farm expanded to include son Michael and nephew Casey. Originally a dairy farmer with a love for cattle, they transitioned the farm to a cash crop operation in the 90’s. He had a love for all animals, especially his last dog Levi, his adopted dog Daisy and his granddogs Cash and Duke. Doug spent many years working on equipment at the farm shop, primarily on White combines. He was a volunteer fireman out of the Becher station and always took pride in his work with the Rural Lambton Stewardship Network, St. Clair Conservation Authority, and ALUS Lambton (Alternative Land Use Services). He always stood up for what he believed in and was never afraid to lend a hand to those in need. He always enjoyed time with the coffee club at the local elevator, golfing with his friends, social hour in the shop or at a neighbours, and spending time with his family.
We would like to thank the teams at Bluewater Health, London Health Sciences and St. Joseph’s Hospice in Sarnia for all of their support.
A private family service will be held with a public celebration of Doug’s life to be announced at a later date, after harvest. Donations can be made to St. Joseph’s Hospice Foundation in Sarnia or London Health Sciences Center. Cherished stories and tributes may be left for the family at www.CavanaghFuneralHome.ca.
