OPP officials allege: A 42-year-old Walpole Island First Nation man has been charged following an armed robbery at a local business on Tecumseh Road.
Walpole Island Police Service, with assistance from the Lambton County detachment of the OPP, the West Region Emergency Response Team and the West Region Canine Unit, responded to the report at approximately 8:45 a.m. Tuesday.
The investigation determined an individual attended the business, brandished a firearm and took product before fleeing on foot. Police located the individual a short time later and took him into custody.
The man was charged under the Criminal Code with armed robbery and two counts of failure to comply with an undertaking. He was held for a bail hearing and subsequently remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on Friday.
