Chatham-Kent Public Health is reminding parents that regular eye exams can help identify vision problems early in children, supporting healthy development, learning and daily activities.
Vision problems can be difficult for children to recognize and explain. Eye exams are covered by OHIP for children and youth 19 and under.
The Ontario Association of Optometrists recommends a first eye exam at six months, a second between ages two and three, and an exam every year starting at age four.
Parents can find an optometrist at optom.on.ca/find-an-optometrist.
