Walpole Algonac Ferry Ltd. says its gate will remain closed while the vessel is travelling to and from Algonac as part of enhanced security procedures.
The company says the ferry is operating normally and service is not affected.
Passengers and vehicles that arrive while the ferry is away will be asked to line up in the parking lot and wait for its return. Once the ferry arrives, a crew member will open the gate and begin loading as usual.
“We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we implement this security measure to help ensure safe and efficient operations for everyone,” the company said in a statement.
