Motorcyclist’s condition improves after collision with vehicle turning into driveway on Pioneer Line

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 44-year-old Chatham man injured in a collision between a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle on Pioneer Line is now in non-life-threatening condition, Chatham-Kent police say.

Police, Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue and EMS responded at about 5:47 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 2, to the collision between St. Clair Street and Prince Albert Road. Police say a 54-year-old Chatham woman was turning into a private driveway from Pioneer Line when her vehicle collided with a westbound motorcycle. Both drivers were the only occupants of their vehicles.

The motorcyclist was taken to Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with injuries that were initially believed to be life-threatening. Police say his condition has improved, his injuries are now considered non-life-threatening, and he remains under medical care. The driver of the passenger vehicle was not hurt.

Because of the severity of the reported injuries, the police traffic management unit took over the investigation. Pioneer Line was closed for several hours and has reopened.
