A Dresden man faces a string of charges stemming from a shoplifting incident at Walmart in Wallaceburg.
Last night just after 8 p.m. a man left the Wallaceburg Walmart without making any attempt to pay for items he had stolen.
Police were called and located the man who is known to Walmart employees and also to police.
As the officer was attempting to place handcuffs on the man, he became physically aggressive and ran from the officer.
After a brief foot chase, the man; who continued to be uncooperative, was arrested.
Through investigation, it was learned that due to past shoplifting incidents, the man was also on conditions not to attend Walmart.
The 26-year-old Dresden man was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000, failing to comply, escape lawful custody and resist arrest.
He was released from custody with a court date of March 8, 2017.
