Update: Severe thunderstorm watch ends in C-K.

Original story: A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued in Chatham-Kent.

Forecasters say conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and torrential rain.

A line of thunderstorms will continue to move eastward this afternoon.

There is currently a line of storms extending from Sarnia to Toronto and a few isolated storms north of Toronto towards Haliburton.

Wind gusts to 90 kilometres per hour and local rainfall amounts of 50 millimetres in an hour are possible.

Westerly winds developing this evening will end the threat of severe weather.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

Wallaceburg’s Charlie Kridiotis ran into a storm this afternoon along St. Clair Parkway, where multiple trees were down along the shore.

He said hail and tree branches were blowing onto his truck.
