Manslaughter charges have been laid in a drug investigation in Sarnia.
Sarnia Police officials say on August 9, 2017, members of the Sarnia Police Service responded to a sudden death in 700 block of Indian Road.
A 38 year old male was pronounced dead at the hospital due to an overdose on drugs, police say.
The Sarnia Police Service Criminal Investigation Branch continued investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
On August 11, 2017, a search warrant was executed in the 800 block of Devine Street in relation to the death.
Secondary to the search a small quantity of crack cocaine was found in the residence and a 57-year-old woman from Sarnia was arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a controlled substance.
Since this date further evidence has been obtained resulting in the arrest of the same woman on March 13, 2018.
She has now been also charged with manslaughter.
The woman attended her bail hearing recently and has since been released.
