Chatham-Kent Tourism is excited to announce the launch of āPick, Press, Preserveā, the first VisitCK Signature Experience that is being launched in partnership with the Crazy 8 Barn and Garden in Palmyra, Chatham-Kent.
The experience involves a guided discovery tour through gardens filled with native plants and creating a personalized plant press made from local reclaimed wood. With foraged blooms and greenery, the press is then used immediately to preserve what has been picked.
āWe’re very excited to be launching the first signature tourism experience in Chatham-Kent. We have been working with Chatham-Kent Tourism for over a year to craft a unique way to tell our story. Their support has made this expansion of our tourism business possible” said Susanne Spence Wilkins, owner of Crazy 8 Barn and Garden.
This is the first in what is planned to be a series of experiences in partnership with CKās tourism operators and CK Tourism. In recent years, CK Tourism has collaborated with CKās tourism operators on industry equipping and has engaged with them to create this new level of tourism experience in our region. āVisitors are looking to create unique memories and for experiences ā opportunities to touch, see, smell and do when they visit, they donāt just want to watch whatās happeningā, says Shannon Paiva, Supervisor, Tourism Development, Municipality of Chatham-Kent.
Experience development is a key focus of both the provincial and national tourism sectors. āThe Ontario Signature Experiences program is a collection of world-class experiences, and features exciting destinations that create unique memories for travellers. We believe we have those in Chatham-Kent as wellā, says Paiva. āWe also encourage businesses wanting to create a VisitCK Signature Experience to contact us, as there are workshops.ā
