‘baCK Home for the Holidays’ celebration taking place

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent’s Community Attraction and Promotion (CAP) team is hosting the annual ‘baCK to Chatham-Kent’ Home for the Holidays celebration.

Mayor Darrin Canniff launched the month-long campaign to honour residents that have moved baCK to Chatham-Kent with a flag raising on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 in front of the Civic Centre in Chatham.

The baCK campaign encourages those originally from the community to consider returning to Chatham-Kent, Municipal officials say.

The campaign shares stories of those who have chosen to return, their successes, and highlights the lifestyle and employment opportunities available in CK.

“The COVID pandemic has made some people re-evaluate where they live,” stated Mayor Canniff in a press release.

“The baCK to Chatham-Kent campaign highlights the many reasons why Chatham-Kent is a great place to live. Our open spaces, urban and rural lifestyles, affordability, climate, safe communities and the working from home trend are ideal selling factors for young people to choose to call CK home again.”

This year the baCK to Chatham-Kent Home for the Holidays celebration will be virtual.

The baCK to Chatham-Kent and LivingCK social media pages will share weekly baCK stories, holiday events and fun ways to explore CK with your social bubble.

The CK Winter Connection, is going virtual this year and exploring fun ideas on how young people are staying connected through the winter.

Hosted in partnership with the Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce, YconneCKt and the CKy – Chatham-Kent to the Power of Young People initiative.

The CK Winter Connection event has two options on December 17, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., to accommodate work schedules.

“Every winter holiday, we work with our community partners to host the baCK Home for the Holidays events to celebrate our young people and all the amazing benefits of LivingCK,” stated Victoria Bodnar, community attraction and promotion’s resident attraction and retention coordinator.

“This year has added some challenges, but we are excited to connect virtually and keep the tradition of showing young people why they should come back to CK.”
