The 17th COVID-19 death has been confirmed in Chatham-Kent.
Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit officials announced the death on the ‘current status’ page of their website on Thursday, June 10, 2021.
Jeff Moco, a spokesperson for CK Public Health, told the Sydenham Current the most recent death was a women in her 60’s.
Moco said she died on June 8 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.
Public health officials also announced on Thursday that 64% of Chatham-Kent’s population 12 + have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 10% have receives two doses.
A total of 69,713 doses have been administered to date, 60,647 people have received at least one dose and 10,109 people have received two doses.
The active COVID-19 case count sits at 14.
The total number of COVID-19 cases sits at 1,872 across Chatham-Kent.
CK Public Health officials say four people are hospitalized with COVID-19 from Chatham-Kent.
A total of 1,841 cases have been resolved.
There are currently zero active outbreaks.
Seven of the active cases across Chatham-Kent are linked to close contact, four cases have information pending, one case is unknown, one case is linked to an outbreak outside of Chatham-Kent and one case is linked to travel.
CK Public Health officials say a total of 239 Chatham-Kent residents have had COVID-19 with a variant of concern or related mutation.
A total of 114,524 tests for the virus have been completed to date.
