From May 1-7, 2023 the Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign supported charities in communities across the country, including the Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation of Chatham-Kent – one of 550 Canadian charities, hospitals, and community programs supported through the annual campaign.
During that week, local Tim Hortons owners, the Pritchard family, and Mike and Paula Grail, donated local proceeds from every Smile Cookie sale towards the CTC Foundation.
They recently presented the CTC with a donation in the amount of $69,000.
Over 140 volunteers from the community, including CTC staff and community members, assisted with baking and decorating Smile Cookies at the Chatham Armoury kitchen.
Throughout the course of the seven-day campaign, volunteers baked over 25,000 cookies to increase the supply that could be sold to the public.
Not all services at the Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent are covered by government funding.
Programs like Social Work, Therapeutic Recreation Services, and Music Therapy are all funded by the CTC Foundation.
The funds raised from the Smile Cookie Campaign will go towards providing programming and therapy for children who attend the Centre.
The CTC served over 5,000 children in 2022, which equals one in every five Chatham-Kent children.
Tim Hortons’ Smile Cookie campaign began in 1996 to help raise funds for the Hamilton Children’s Hospital and has grown to become a major fundraising event at Tim Hortons restaurants.
