Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On July 22, 2024, at 1:22 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed, westbound on McNaughton Avenue in Chatham.
The officer conducted a traffic stop on Woods Street and believed the man was under the influence of alcohol.
The man was arrested and transported to the Ontario Provincial Police, Chatham detachment for breath tests.
The officer also learned the man had been prohibited from driving for the same offence on June 27, 2024.
The 38-year-old Chatham man was charged for impaired driving, driving with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit and operating a motor vehicle while prohibited.
He was released with conditions and a future court date of August 6, 2024.
