Update: McNaughton Avenue East in Chatham reopens, after a heavy police presence

Update: Shortly before 4 p.m. McNaughton Avenue was reopened.

The area is safe.

“I hope to have information in the morning,” Sgt. Lynette Rosina, spokesperson for the Chatham-Kent Police Service, told the media in an email.

“Officers continue to work behind the scenes on the incident.”

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: The Chatham-Kent Police Service advises the public of a heavy police presence in the area of McNaughton Avenue East between Taylor Tail and Spurgeon Drive, Chatham due to an active investigation.

The public is strongly urged to stay away from the area for safety until further updates are provided.
