Crash in Lambton Shores leads to a chase, a stolen vehicle being recovered and multiple charges

Lambton OPP offcials allege: The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested one individual after police responded to a report of a collision in the Municipality of Lambton Shores.

On August 18, 2024, at approximately 5:30 a.m., members of the Lambton County OPP along with the assistance of Anishinabek Police Service (APS) responded to a report of a collision on Lakeshore Road in the Municipality of Lambton Shores.

APS members located the vehicle and driver. After a brief conversation with the driver, the individual fled on foot from the police. Through investigation, it was determined that the subject vehicle was previously reported stolen out of the City of Sarnia.

With the assistance of the OPP Canine Unit, West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and members of the Anishinabek Police Service, Lambton County OPP took one individual into custody without incident.

As a result of the investigation, a 38-year-old Sarnia man was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

· Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000

· Obstruct peace officer

· Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court

The accused was held pending a bail hearing and further remanded into custody. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on August 21, 2024, in the City of Sarnia to speak to the charges.
