Matt Cousins Memorial Golf Tournament donates $35,000 to the Wallaceburg Red Devils + $35,000 to Wallaceburg Minor Lacrosse

Organizers for the Matt Cousins Memorial Golf Tournament recently made a $35,000 donation to the Wallaceburg Red Devils Junior ‘B’ Lacrosse Club, plus a $35,000 donation to Wallaceburg Minor Lacrosse.

“At our banquet on August 18 the Wallaceburg Red Devils were pleased to accept a donation from the Matt Cousins Memorial Golf Tournament in honour of Matt Cousins,” Red Devils officials said on social media.

“Thank you for your generous donation to our organization.”

The Matt Cousins Memorial Golf Tournament was held at Hidden Hills on Saturday, May 25, 2024.

The tournament, held in honour of the late Matt Cousins, raised a whopping $75,000 for a trio of Wallaceburg lacrosse groups.

Matt’s mother Ellen Muxlow and step-father Eric Ruggles told the Sydenham Current the weather cleared up just in time for the 10 a.m. tee off.

A total of 218 players took part in the tournament, with locally donated prizes, a massive 50/50 draw and three baby racoons bouncing around the course all day.

Ellen and Eric said the second annual tournament is booked for Saturday, May 24, 2025.

Dana Haggith caught up with Ellen and Eric for an interview. Listen, below:
