A freezing rain warning has been issued in Chatham-Kent, as freezing rain is expected to begin tonight.
Environment Canada officials say patchy freezing rain, leading to icy and slippery conditions, is anticipated along with up to 2 mm of ice build-up.
The timing of the freezing rain is expected to start near midnight and continuing through early Thursday morning.
“Snow mixed with freezing rain is expected to move into the region tonight,” forecasters say.
Conditions are expected to improve Thursday morning. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.”
Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces, forecasters added.
