R.O.C.K. Missions facing challenges as crucial funding is set to expire

R.O.C.K. Missions (Reach Out Chatham-Kent) is facing a challenging time, as a crucial source of funding through Health Canada is set to end on March 31, 2025, after three years of support.

Executive Director Renee Geniole shared her concerns with the Sydenham Current about the impact this will have on the organization’s operations, particularly its Wallaceburg location.

Listen to the interview, below:

Geniole said without alternative funding sources, the Wallaceburg site might have to close its doors by the end of August this year.

Although emergency funding is currently available, and R.O.C.K. Missions receives some financial support from the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, the organization needs additional backing to continue its work.

Geniole said they serve an average of 45 individuals a day at its Wallaceburg location, providing food, a safe space, hygiene products, physical and mental health services, and more.
