Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On February 28, 2024, in a prior incident, a 31-year-old man from Chatham entered a Wheatley business wearing a grey hoodie, ski mask, and a grey ball cap.
He approached the counter and began taking lottery tickets.
When a store employee informed him, that ID was needed and tickets had to be scanned, the suspect claimed he did not have ID and ripped the OLG lottery display off the counter.
The total amount stolen was valued at $1,090.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service obtained video evidence and identified the suspect through investigations.
He was arrested on March 10, 2024, and charged with the following:
– Theft Under $5000
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
– Disguise with Intent
The accused was released and failed to appear in court on April 8, 2025, resulting in a bench warrant.
He was arrested again on December 22, 2024, with a court date set for January 27, 2025, which he also failed to attend.
On March 27, 2025, at approximately 10:47 a.m., Windsor Police Service arrested the accused on outstanding unendorsed warrants for failing to attend court.
He was transferred to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he is currently being held for bail.
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: RIDE programs were conducted by the Chatham-Kent Police Service at multiple locations., including in Wallaceburg and Bothwell.
A total of 177 cars were checked, two roadside tests administered, and 10 Highway Traffic Act warnings were issued.
