CKTransit is implementing new fare rates for its Ride CK services effective July 1, 2025, as part of a phased-in fare structure aimed at maintaining both affordability and long-term transit sustainability.
Passengers using smart card products such as the Cash Pass will see a reduced rate compared to exact cash fares. The discounted fare will be $2.28 for all Chatham and Wallaceburg urban services, with a further off-peak reduction to $1.87 on Chatham’s fixed routes. Inter-urban routes will be discounted to $4.28 when using a Cash Pass.
The cost of the 30-Day Urban Pass will also rise. Adult fares will increase to $82.45, while seniors aged 65 and older, as well as students aged 6 to 17, will pay $64.78. This pass is valid for use on all urban services in Chatham and Wallaceburg, including specialized transit.
For qualifying low-income residents, the 30-Day Urban Pass offered through the Affordable Bus Pass Program will increase to $41.23. The pass provides the same access to urban services, including specialized options.
The Semester Pass, available exclusively to full-time students at St. Clair College’s Thames Campus and the University of Guelph’s Ridgetown Campus, will increase to $164.90 per semester. This pass grants unlimited access to all Ride CK services, including inter-urban routes, for the duration of the academic term. A valid student ID is required.
Exact cash fares will remain unchanged. Riders will continue to pay $2.75 for urban and specialized urban services and $5.25 for inter-urban routes. Children five and under will still ride for free when accompanied by a paying caregiver.
Smart cards can be purchased or reloaded at municipal centres or online. Riders without a credit card can still register their smart card online to safeguard against loss or theft.
