Chatham-Kent man charged after an armed robbery in Sarnia

Sarnia Police Service officials allege: On April 13, 2025 at 2:30 a.m., the Sarnia Police Service was called to robbery-in-progress at a convenience store in the 400 block of Exmouth Street.

Investigation revealed that a male entered into the stored and gathered $37.05 worth of various items and placed them on the counter at the cash.

While the cashier was scanning the products through the male unzipped a cross bag and pulled a firearm out.

He demanded that the cashier place the items into a brown paper bag.

The male then left heading north on Colborne Road.

A search of the area was unsuccessful and the investigation was turned over to the SPS Criminal Investigations Division.

Police were later able to identify the suspect as a 21-year-old Chatham-Kent man.

At the time of this offence, he was subject to a Release Order (i.e. had been released from court on bail) when this incident occurred.

As his whereabouts were unknown, a warrant was issued with the following offences:

– Using Firearm in commission of offence

– Robbery

– Careless use of Firearm

– Possession of Weapon for dangerous purpose

– Fail to comply with Release Order

– Unauthorized Possession of Firearm

– CC 90 – Carrying concealed weapon

On June 30, the SPS located the suspect as part of a larger enforcement project.

He was arrested without incident and held for bail.
