OPP officials allege: Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision in the eastbound lanes of Highway 402.
On Friday, July 4, 2025, at approximately 12:25 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Middlesex detachment along with emergency services responded to the eastbound lanes of Highway 402 between Colonel Talbot Road and Wonderland Road for a report of collision involving a transport truck, mini van and Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV).
It was determined that an SUV was travelling westbound on Highway 402 and crossed over the median into eastbound lanes and collided with a minivan and transport truck.
One person from the SUV was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injures.
Three people from the mini van were also transported to be treated for injuries however an 87-year-old, male passenger from Sarnia was later pronounced deceased in hospital.

The eastbound lanes of Highway 402 will be closed for the next eight hours between Colonel Talbot Road and Wonderland Road for investigation.
West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement Team is assisting with the investigation and is asking anyone who was travelling on Highway 402 between Colonel Talbot Road and Wonderland Road and witnessed the collision – or has any relevant information – to contact the Middlesex County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
