Vivian Kicknosway

Vivian Annette Kicknosway, a member of Walpole Island First Nation, passed away peacefully in Chatham on Friday, July 18, 2025 at the age of 88. Vivian was the daughter of the late Herbert and Ella Mae (White) Johnson. Beloved wife of the late George Kicknosway Sr.. Loving mother of George Kicknosway Jr. (Gail), Denise Kicknosway, Shelley Kicknosway, Elaine Shognosh (the late Leonard) and Lee Kicknosway. Little grandma to 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. Sister of the late Lauretta Jones and Verna ‘Peewee’ Johnson. Special aunt to Herb, Randall, Eddie, Donnie and Vicki. Vivian taught at the Walpole Island Day School for over 34 years and served 3 terms on the board of Education. She was a residential school survivor of the Mohawk Institute and Mount Elgin Residential School in Muncey. Visiting will be held at the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg on Monday, July 21 from 3 – 5 pm on Monday for family and 6 – 8 pm for the community. The funeral will be celebrated at the Walpole Island Sports Complex on Tuesday, July 22 at 1 pm. Interment in Highbanks Cemetery to follow.
