Chatham woman charged after shoplifting warrant executed in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 35-year-old Chatham woman has been charged following her arrest on an outstanding warrant tied to a theft investigation.

Police say the charges stem from a July 21 incident at a retail business in Wallaceburg, where a woman allegedly filled a bag with merchandise and left the store without paying. Surveillance video was later used to identify a suspect and a warrant was issued.

Chatham-Kent police say the woman was arrested Tuesday night around 9 p.m. on James Street in Wallaceburg. She is charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

She was released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 24.
