Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On August 9, 2025, at approximately 4:30a.m., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to an alarm at a school on William Street North in Chatham.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that the rear door glass had been broken.
The keyholder of the building arrived and walked through the premises with officers.
The keyholder was able to confirm that items had been taken from the building.
Using the CCTV footage, police were able to identify a suspect and tracked him to a convenience store located on Grand Avenue West, Chatham.
On August 10, 2025, at approximately 10:23 p.m., a police officer located the suspect.
He was arrested and found in possession of the stolen items from the school.
He was subsequently charged with break and enter to commit mischief and theft under $5,000 and held for a bail hearing.
He was subsequently released by the court with conditions and a future court date.
When he failed to meet this court date a warrant was issued.
On August 27, 2025, an e-bike was reported stolen from a farm on Bloomfield Road in Chatham.
On August 28, 2025, at approximately 1:50 a.m. hours the 29-year-old Chatham-Kent man was located on Queen Street and was found to be in possession of the stolen electric bike.
He was arrested and is currently being held pending a bail hearing.
