With sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Ward “Jim” James Charles McCrea.
He passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 31, 2025 at the age of 70 years.
Jim was born in London and was the son of the late Howard and Olive (Ward) McCrea .
Beloved husband of Marty Girard and predeceased by his wife Joanne Shilson.
Loving father of James “Paul” (Dawn) McCrea , Mackenzie (Mary) McCrea , Bill Pickard, and Andrew (Shannon) Pickard.
Dear “Papa Jim” to Hannah (Ben), Lucas (Kenzie), Samantha, Brody, Alexander “Alex”, Clark and Lily.
Kind brother of Lynn (Will) Smallcomb and predeceased by a brother Paul. He is survived by his nephew Matthew.
Jim was an active member of the Wallaceburg Branch 18 Royal Canadian Legion and was a proud recipient of the Certificate of Merit from the legion. He was a former owner and manager of the Wallaceburg Lakers now known as the Thunderhawks. He loved Fishing, Boating, Karaoke and working on his truck. He was a man of “Signs” and was also offering his time to volunteer when possible. Jim will also be missed by his K9 Buddy “Bear”.
The late Jim McCrea is resting at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home (639 Elgin St., Wallaceburg 519-627-2861). Family and friends are invited to visitation on Saturday, September 6, 2025 from 1-3pm followed by a short service. As an expression of sympathy donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation may be left at the Funeral Home.
