Rural residents who rely on Chatham-Kent Waste Depots are being reminded to renew their permits. The permits, required for those who do not receive municipal curbside garbage collection, are free to renew.
The municipality is holding 14 renewal events at eight Waste Depots between October 24 and November 8. Residents can attend any event regardless of where they live. Renewal requires bringing two current permits and a photo ID with your address.
For those who miss the scheduled events, permits can be renewed at any Municipal Centre starting November 10. Lost permits can also be replaced at Municipal Centres for $5. New permits will not be sold at Waste Depots during renewal events.
While there is no set deadline, residents are encouraged to renew before their first visit to the depot in 2026 to maintain uninterrupted access. More information, including the full renewal schedule, is available at www.chatham-kent.ca/depots.
