Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Chatham-Kent police have charged a 33-year-old man after a debit card was stolen from a vehicle and then used to make purchases at a nearby store.
Police say they received a call for service regarding a theft complaint at approximately 4:53 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, in the area of Grand Avenue West in Chatham.
Investigators say a suspect had entered an individual’s car in a parking lot and stole their debit card. The suspect then went to a nearby store and used the stolen card to make purchases, police say.
As a result of the investigation, police located and charged a 33-year-old Chatham man with unauthorized use of a credit card.
The accused was transported to Chatham-Kent Police headquarters, where he was released on an undertaking with a future court date of October 19, 2026.
