Smart Cards are making it easier than ever to travel cash-free with Huron Shores Area Transit.
Riders can choose from a variety of options including Monthly Passes, Child’s Annual Passes, CNIB Cardholder Annual Passes, Senior and Veteran’s Discount Cards, Support Person Assistance Passes and Income Related Annual Passes. Each card is designed to meet the needs of different passengers, offering flexibility and convenience.
Using a Smart Card is simple. Tap the card to the reader when boarding to pay your fare. If the card is forgotten, cash payment will be required for that trip. To be valid, the Smart Card must always be present and tapped. For Monthly, Child’s Annual, CNIB Annual, Support Person Assistance and Income Related Annual Passes, riders need only tap once when boarding. For set dollar value cards and Seniors and Veterans Discounted Passes, passengers must tap on and tap off to ensure the correct fare is charged.
Standard fare Smart Cards are available in amounts of $25, $60 or a custom value. Riders can also purchase a $140 Monthly Pass, which provides unlimited rides over a 31-day period. It is important to note that refunds are not available on transit passes.
Smart Cards can be purchased at Sobeys in Grand Bend, with more retailers to be announced soon.
They can also be ordered online at https://huronshoresareatransit.ca/rates/smart-card-information/ or by contacting Customer Service at 519-243-1400 extension 8108. When ordering online, a Smart Card package will be mailed directly to the customer, complete with easy-to-follow instructions for setting up the card and managing the account.
The Smart Card program offers a convenient, cashless way to ride, ensuring passengers have reliable access to transit while simplifying fare payment.
