Chatham-Kent police officers are taking part in a national fitness and awareness campaign this month in support of mental health initiatives across Canada.
As part of The Push Up Challenge, officers are completing push-ups between Feb. 5 and Feb. 27 while raising funds and awareness for the Canadian Mental Health Association. The local team is working toward a collective goal of 2,000 push-ups, with each repetition symbolizing strength, resilience and a commitment to community well-being.
Police say the challenge is intended to promote conversations around mental health and encourage physical activity as a way to support both mental and physical wellness. Members of the public are also invited to take part by joining the team, completing their own push-ups, or making a donation.
Those interested in supporting the initiative can join the team or donate online at https://www.thepushupchallenge.ca/fund/ckpstogetherwepush.
Participants are encouraged to share photos of their progress on social media using the hashtag #CKPSTogetherWePush to show support and help spread awareness.
The initiative is part of a broader effort by police to break down stigma around mental health and highlight the importance of community involvement in promoting wellness and support.
