Traffic stop in Leamington leads to multiple charges for Wheatley resident

OPP officials allege: One person is facing several charges following a traffic stop early Sunday morning in Leamington.

Members of the Ontario Provincial Police conducted a vehicle stop on Wellington Street at approximately 2:27 a.m. on March 22, 2026.

Police said a 36-year-old Wheatley resident was arrested and charged with four counts of operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code, as well as driving a motor vehicle with no currently validated permit and failing to have an insurance card.

A 45-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on June 18, 2026, to answer to the charges.
