Margarita Mile fun run to kick off Cinco de Mayo celebrations in Windsor

A new one-mile fun run aimed at blending fitness with festivities is set to take place in Windsor next month as part of local Cinco de Mayo celebrations.

Organizers say the Margarita Mile, scheduled for Sunday, May 3, 2026, will see participants follow a 1,600-metre route along city sidewalks surrounding the WindsorEats Food Hall.

The event is being organized by the Maple City Mile Run Group and Doug Robbins, in partnership with WindsorEats.

Organizers say the event is designed as a more relaxed alternative to traditional races, focusing on community participation rather than competition.

“We wanted to create an event where the only thing being taken seriously is the quality of the tequila,” said Robbins. “There are no medals here because you can’t eat a piece of tin, but you can wear a buff while eating world-class tacos. It’s about community, a bit of cardio, and a lot of Cinco de Mayo spirit.”

Instead of medals or ribbons, participants who complete the course will receive a commemorative Margarita Mile buff.

Following the run, participants and spectators are invited to continue celebrations at the WindsorEats patio, where margaritas and street tacos will be available for purchase, including offerings from Rico Taco.

“At WindsorEats, we’re all about creating experiences that you can’t find anywhere else,” said Adriano Ciotoli. “Partnering with Doug to bring a fun run right to our doorstep is the perfect way to kick off our Cinco de Mayo celebrations. We’ll have the margaritas flowing and the music pumping—the ‘Mile’ is just the warm-up for the party.”

The event begins at 11 a.m. and is open to participants of all fitness levels. Registration is available online, and organizers note that quantities of the commemorative buffs are limited.
