Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: An 18-year-old Chatham man is facing impaired driving charges after police said they observed a vehicle swerving, running stop signs and travelling at a high rate of speed.
Police said an officer saw the vehicle on McNaughton Avenue at about 10:28 p.m. on June 7. As officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver pulled into a Prince Albert Road driveway and ran into a residence, where he was arrested after a pursuit.
Police said the driver was taken to headquarters and provided breath samples.
The accused is charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus. He was released with a court date of July 16, 2026.
